Corrosion-Inhibiting Coatings

Motion carries a selection of corrosive-inhibiting coatings, including battery terminal corrosion preventatives, cavity wax, corrosion and rust inhibitors, galvanizing coatings, liquid rust converters, naval jellies, and polyurethane and urethane coatings. Corrosion inhibitors, or corrosion inhibiting coatings, are special coatings or substances that can be applied to metals and metallic surfaces to guard against corrosion and other damages. There are various forms of corrosion inhibitor agents, like polyurethane coatings, acids, polymers, and more. They can work in slightly different ways, but all have the same goal of keeping metals intact and in the best possible condition, free from corrosion and rust.

Corrosion inhibiting coatings and rust inhibitors primarily work by forming a protective layer on top of the metal surface, almost like a shield or barrier against damages. There are a few different ways in which this can work from a scientific standpoint, including oxidation of the base metal or chemical absorption.
