Adapter Sleeves

Motion offers adapter sleeves available in various materials, bore diameters, product types, and thread sizes that offer easy dismounting and elongated bearing life. Adapter sleeves are used to securely mount bearings onto shafts with a larger diameter than the bearing bore. Adapter sleeves are used to fix tapered bore bearings to a shaft. They make shaft mounting and dismounting easy because they do not require additional fixing or locating devices on the shaft; they can be fixed anywhere on the shaft. Adapter sleeves typically come with a lock nut and lock washer and have a slot at the narrow end the washer slips into and the nut to thread behind for tightening. Also known as tapered sleeves, adapter sleeves provide a true fit along a shaft, which gives the bearing a longer life. They are useful in applications where balancing is important, such as with large fans.
