Rotary Vane Air Motors
Motion offers a collection of rotary vane air motors for pneumatic systems. Rotary vane air motors are used to start large, industrial diesel or natural gas engines or small, pneumatic motors in handheld tools like drills, sanders, grinders, and cutters. They do not require electrical power and generate less heat for use in more volatile environments.
Rotary vane air motors work through the expansion of compressed air. Compressed air is pumped into a chamber with vanes, also called blades, set onto a drive shaft in a crescent-shaped sweep. As the air flows into the intake port, it pushes the vanes and creates a rotary motion as it spirals up the blades and is expelled through the exhaust port.
