Rotary Screw Air Compressors

Motion carries rotary screw air compressors for pneumatic systems. Rotary screw compressors use two helical rotors to compress gas into a smaller space. As the rotors intermesh, they alternately open and close off interlobe spaces at the end of the rotors. When a space is opened, gas is sucked in. As it rotates to the closed position, the gas is trapped and forced along the length of the rotors. The volume of the interlobe space then decreases, compressing the gas. Rotary screw compressors are used when large volumes of high-pressure elements are needed at a more consistent flow. Because the rotors provide a continuous sweeping motion, they produce little pulsation or surging. They are suitable for large industrial applications or high-powered air tools, such as jackhammers.
